tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9901815.post115834515938530595..comments2023-06-04T14:47:02.324+01:00Comments on a sideways glance: belonging and membership (part 2)simonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13470335172330595542noreply@blogger.comBlogger1125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9901815.post-1158400876127238722006-09-16T11:01:00.000+01:002006-09-16T11:01:00.000+01:00Taking stock of how membership works in the baptis...Taking stock of how membership works in the baptist church where I am involved as a leader, it is certainly one of those areas where what we think we believe (going by the promises made entering into the membership covenant) is fractured from what we actually believe (demonstrated by the choices we make in life).<BR/><BR/>I'm not sure that everyone affected by the ministry of a church is a stakeholder; I think there does need to be some level of demonstrable consent to a shared understanding of who God is and how we should reflect that in our lives.<BR/><BR/>However, I think ongoing membership should be demonstrated by gathering together in various permutations of the congregation (and choosing to weave life together with others who are doing the same) and in active involvement with the church meeting (preferably regular attendance but at least some degree of interest and passing on apologies when not able to make it).Wulfhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14122559314286527166noreply@blogger.com
